Friendly atmosphere, Good food!: Cosmo's is a very New York style pizza. They make a good personal piiza, if you are eating alone and the staff and the neighborhood people who frequest Southside make you feel like part of the family. Cosmo's secret is in the sauce. It is very hand tossed, home made flavor style pizza and is unique in Birmingham. I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

Gourmet Pizza, Cheap Beer, Central Location: In the heart of Southside, there exists a local favorite known as Cosmo's Five Points Pizza. Where else in Birmingham can you get a pizza with everything from Alligator (tastes like salty chicken!) to Zucchini on the same pizza? The food comes in large portions that certainly support the fair prices. The beer is cheap. The decor is funky is a wigged-out 90's-bar-meets-50's-diner kind of way. The huge picture windows allow you to people-watch as you eat. The waitresses are relaxed and informal and the TV is almost always going. Good music playing in the background? Certainly! And last time I was there, Cosmo's was hosting one of the best Service Industry Night parties in town. Recommendations? The Billy Salad, named after the owner, or The Cop Sandwich (named for all the pork products on it). And if you get a salad, you HAVE to try the Cosmo's bleu cheese dressing - it isn't your standard fare! Once you've had their handmade creation, the bleu cheese dressing from the store and from other restaurants will never compare again.

This New York Style Pizza is the best in Birmingham. I have been going there for at least 20 years and I still have a taste for it. The owners and Employees are very friendly.

Recently I met a friend and his daughter and friend from out of town. By the time I arrived, the father had ordered a pizza and a pitcher of beer and I added a small mufaletta and coke to the order requesting a separate ticket. The service was bizzare to say the least and went downhill from there. The waitress asked me if I wanted a glass for the beer and I told her no, that I would not be drinking. She then went on to say that she could not sell a pitcher of beer unless 2 people were drinking! I have never heard of that and thought it odd but said, ok bring me a glass and I might decide to have some later. She then asked me if really was going to share some of the pitcher??? Is this strange or what???? She brought the pitcher, my coke, refilled water for the younger girls. We sat talking etc but time went by and we discovered that we had been waiting for 45 minutes for our order during wich time the waitress had brough refills of water, my friend had consumed one glass of beer and I had finally finished my coke, and read two local papers. Being 4 PM no other patrons were in the establisment eating though some did have a glass of beer etc and left. The waitress though attentive was often intrusive to our conversation if not hovering. Finally my friend decided that we should see what was happening to the food and offer to pay for the beer and pepsi if it would not be ready in a short time or pay for it all and ask it to be put in to go containers. The man in the kitchen (perhaps the owner?) that has been there since its opening gestured to the kitchen and said "the pizza is there-its hand made and takes time". My friend could not see if it was cooked or not so we decided to wait a few more minutes. Still the pizza did not arrive so he went in to see if he could settle the bill and leave without the food. At that moment, the waitress came with the pizza and the man came out from behind the counter and started a loud rant yelling "You have been nothing but trouble since you have been here!" The waitress then said. "I knew I shouldn't have brought that pitcher of beer as if to accuse my friend of being drunk. All this in front of his teenage daughter and her friend. Then we were told that we had to pay the bill like we hadn't tried to just a minute before. I will NEVER go back to that restaurant-actually have only been there about 5 times in 21 years. I will never reccommend it to any guests from out of town or any one with younger children. It created a lasting horrible impression of Birmingham on the 2 girls visiting from Ohio Uninversity.

I love Cosmo's Pizza. It is located in Five Points behind Five Points Grill. It is a hidden secret of Five Points. They have the best pizza that I have had in Birmingham. It can be more pricey than going to Papa Johns or Dominos but it is worth it. The atmosphere has that 50s diner feel with some spunk. If ever in Birmingham looking for some Pizza this is the place to go!

The pizza is pretty good here not many choices though. Prices are also pretty high compared to some of the chain pizza places.

I LOVE Cosmo's! It is by far the best pizza in the Birmingham area. If you like the alternative atmosphere of South Side you'll love Cosmo's too. It is located in the heart of South Side behind the Brewery.

I love the place! Reading bad reviews about food and deliveries times being long kinda breaks my heart. I work in this small mom and pop shop and understand how hard it is to staff for the busy time while not going broke on payroll. Cosmo's is such a small place and with a colorful past (heck a colorful current) and does what it can to stay afloat. The food is wonderful and real and in my opinion needed. I beg of you to give this place another chance we need these places.
