Worst Calzone Ever: Purchased as a carry-out at the East Brainerd location This calzone was the worst I have ever had. Yes it was big and brown, too brown on one side and doughy on the other. Upon cutting into a very hard crust it was mostly empty inside. What little stuff there was, was laying on the bottom of the crust and what little cheese there was, was melted into a little puddle along the inside edge. If you like hard crust with few ingredients and a little puddle of cheese then you might want to try this out, as for me, I'll pass.

Eclectic Pies: Good food, creepy wait staff. The service is slightly slow and they sit around oblivious to customers. The atmosphere is cool, and very artsy, maybe a little crafty.

Best lunch place in downtown: Lupi's is an at least once a week stop for me. A group from my work and I frequent it because of the great atmosphere, incredible calzones, and cool wait staff. If you're looking for a place that will wait on you hand and foot, you're going to the wrong place, but if you're looking for great food. You're set here.

Great Pizza!: If you want a break from the normal Hut/Dominoes/Caesars pizza, this is a great place to look. Different atmosphere, but the selection of toppings and the quality of bread make for a really tasty pizza. Not quite NY style (and way away from Chicago), it's a pizza of its own tune. We will go to again (there is also one located somewhere in the Northgate area).

Raised on NY Pizza: I live in Atlanta - it's a quality pizza deprived town, after growing up on NY pies.
We always make sure to have at least one meal at Lupi's. We almost plan our visits to Chattanooga around it.

Food's great but....: My boyfriend and I love lupi's pizza and bread loafs, but the only thing that we did not enjoy was the service. After we recived our pizza we never saw anyone after that, they were all sitting and talking at another table.

Great Variety: Great variety of toppings from italian sausage to spinach to avocado. Cool decor and a PacMan arcade game in the back.As close to NY pizza as you can get.

Calzone heaven: Lupi's is a one of a kind experience. Anyone coming to Chatta-vegas should eat there. The calzones are like nothing I have ever gotten anywhere else. All the ingredients are fresh and the atmosphere is fun. Comfy booths, dark corners, etc.

A unique place in Chattanooga: One of Chattanooga's most unique dining experiences. Very laid back atmosphere, extremely casual. Odd decorations, selection of magazines and one of few places you can order artichoke hearts, fresh basil and roasted garlic on a pizza or calzone. The calzone is about the size of a football. You really should try this place.

Absolutely fabulous: Maybe the best pizza anywhere... the different combinations suggested are innovative and the ones I tried (several) were interesting and excellent flavor blends. The atmosphere is eclectic.... definitely an experience an out of towner should try. A local should make it a regular stop for value and fun. Family friendly with a great selection of pizza (and related menu items) and draft beer to satisfy. The staff.. each one an individual... seem to enjoy their jobs and respond with enthusiasm to the sincere pizza lover. Definitely a place on the Chattanooga "must try" list.

Love the Pizza!: I am originally from NY, so it's hard to please my family when it comes to pizza. We walked in (on a recommendation from a tour guide)with 8 people and were served quickly. It was crowded but we found enough seats easily.
The prices were great for a large family on a budget.
The pizza was just like home!
We also loved the fresh baked bread and free refills on soda.
Bravissimo!

This is the rudest restaurant I've ever been in. I have a small dog and brought it in the hixson location in order to pick up a carry out order. I understand them not wanting me to bring my dog into the restaurant; however, the manager came out and ordered me to stand outside and wait for my pizza outside. I offered to to leave my dog in the car, but the manager insisted I leave the restaurant. Whoever this manager was is an evil, angry man.

overrated: I'm sorry, but I just don't get this restaurant's reputation. What you get is very doughy, unimaginatively flavored fare. The garlic is roasted wrong, and they don't know how to put a good sauce together. Their calzones are a joke. Someone here needs to learn how to combine spices properly, because the pizza has a very formless, undone quality. This place is a good example of the proliferation of hip pizza parlors who think that "eclectic" ingredient combinations make up for a lack of soul.

great place: I am a front desk clerk for a hotel and when people want me to give them references i always mention Lupi's. And every time they eat a pizza from Lupi's they come back with a smile and full bellies. Lupi's is great

Go Where The Locals Go: Recommended to me by a hotel clerk as a local favorite, Lupi's is hands-down the best pizza in Chattanooga. Of the 3 locations, the one in the city is pretty touristy, so locals mainly stick to the locations in the 'burbs and the experience is much more "Chattanooga." Digs are probably best described as "post-modern hippy." The wait staff, each an individual, has a sincere interest in helping you sort through the menu if you have questions. Try the brownies and the cookies - will not disappoint!

LUPI'S PIZZA - A MUST VISIT PIZZA SHOP: This place almost makes me miss home in CT where you could walk up to the corner pizza shop and get homemade non-franchised pizza to satisfy that hunger. I was introduced to Lupi's about 5 months ago and now, I won't go anywhere else for dine in pizza. I highly recommend Lupi's.

Vegetarians: If you are a vegetarian like I am, do not eat at Lupi's. I get cheese pizza everywhere I go, so I figured that is what I would do there. Well nope, I was wrong. They cook your slice of pizza with other slices even if they have meat, meaning when you get your pizza, you might as well have gotten hamburger pizza because hamburger was all over mine. I will never eat there again.

Great toppings but no sauce!!!: We recently picked up a "pizza" to go at the E. Brainerd location. We ordered a large 3 topping with Italian sausage, onion and mushroom for $20. The toppings were very good, particularly the thickly sliced Italian sausage. But there was no sauce on the pizza. If there was any sauce, there wasn't enough to detect. I think the name of the place should be changed to Lupi's Cheese Bread. In my opinion, a pizza is defined by the sauce and for 20 bucks the sauce should be included.

Outstanding pizza.: Lupi's serves outstanding food. The bread used for the crust & calzones, etc., is also available as just a round loaf served with garlic oil for only $2. Dense, crusty, hot yeast bread, mmmm. The sauce, cheese & other ingredients are excellent, too. I prefer the ground sausage. Overall, Lupi's has the best pizza I've ever eaten.
Unfortunately, the service is unreliable. We have visited the Hixson location several times and they frequently lose part of our order (usually my wife's plain cheese slice, which you'd think wouldn't be that difficult to get right). The last time we were there the waitress wasn't watching what she was doing and dumped some bruschetta & sauce in our friend's lap.
The atmosphere is not bad - I like the old arcade machines - but occasionally the music is too loud.
Summary: unbelievably good food, irresponsible wait staff.

Addicted for decades: Almost too good to be true. Lupi's was the first decent, hip, affordable restaurant to grace downtown Chattanooga before the renaissance, before the corporate crap and tourist trade.
Lupi's is still the hipster enviro nexus of the city. The pie, the newsstand, the beer selection and the music are still unadulterated, uncompromising and authentic. Viva Lupi's, you make life worth living.

Great food, Great service, Just Great: I have been going to Lupi's for many years. I love this place. The pizza is by far the best around. I don't understand the bad service complaints of others. We have probably been there 100 times and I have never had bad service. I mean as long as you get your pizza that is all that matters. You get the drinks yourself. Wonderful.

Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Chattanooga. They buy local, fresh, and organic wherever possible, and it comes through in the finished product. The calzones are a deal, a ton of food for the price.

I guess people like poorly spiced, doughy pizzas, which is what this joint cranks out. The calzones are awful. They have one with onions and corn (i kid you not). The sauce is nearly flavorless and unimaginative. Service isn't particularly good.

The best pizza ever is found in the South!: My future wife and I stubled into Lupi's one night on a date in downtown Chattnooga. Man were we lucky. Lupi's has by far the best tasting Pizza ever! The ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality and that makes all difference in the world! Everything is made from scratch, the dough, the sauce, everything! The service is good too! The also have a great selction of beers and wine to choose from to compliment your meal. We live in Dalton, GA so when we go to Lupi's we have to drive an hour round trip but it is worth every minute. I have been to both Chicago and New York and eaten both cities critically acclaimed pizza pies and for what it's worth, the best pizza ever is found in the South! Thank You Lupi's keep up the good work!
