One of the best Pizzas in Dallas: It doesn't get any better than Scalini's Pizaa in Dallas. Great food and desert, beer on tap, pasta dishes and more. Great feeling when you are there, later in the night, depending on what time you go there -might be a 10-15 minutes wait. I have never had a problem with the food here, it is great and doesn't cost to much. Great food and a Great time. Right in the heart of Lakewood!

Unfortunately my visit to Scalini's on Abrams ( along with 20-25 other church members )that were turned down was very upsetting. A so called manager named "Mindy"said she could not accomadate us. When we stated we didn't need her to put tables together nor split the tickets she still refused to serve us and we had no choice to leave and find some where else to eat.

You have to visit this place. The food is great, I get a different meal each time we go. I never have been disappointed. The pizza I have to say is the best in town.

This is a cozy place with good food.: Food: YUMMY! I really enjoyed the combo plate I had and my hubby loved the smoked chicken ravioli he had. Each dinner came with a house green salad and garlic toast. My combo plate was Lasagna, Spaghetti with a meatball, and cheese ravioli. They all had great flavor, not too sweet or spicy and they didn;t all blend in to each other. I could tell there were distinctive flavors in each. Both plates were large. The salads ame with green olives and pepperoncicnis. We had the house italian dressing and while they were just lettuce saleds the dressing was very tasty. We also ordered a hal caraf of the house chianti (red table wine) it was great. Not too dry not too sweet and the amount was just right for 2. The garlic toast was a little dissapointing as it was a soft hogie roll lightly buttered and then toasted and cut up. It just wasn't as good as it could have been, but it did the job and soaked up the sauces well. They have a large menu of pasta dishes, pizza and sandwiches. They are a bar too. Atmosphere: It's cute. It's small but it has a nice family feel. While we where there we saw college kids, families, couples and old people. All different types. Next door is a shop called Metro Retro. It's AWESOME! Take time after dinner to wander and browse all the neat stuff. Total bill was $31.62, we didn't tip as mutch as we normally would because our waitress always seemed to be in a hurry to get back to her conversation so we got out of there for $35.00 even. Even with the mediocre service, it was well worth it and we will be going back!

Love this place--truly a Lakewood gem with awesome pizza. The Italian Sausage pizza topping is perfectly spiced and is ground rather than rolled balls (this is a BIG deal to me!!). Will eat there again and again! Thanks, Scalini's!!

Great Italian- that won't eat your lunch: If you dine in it will be cozy but food is available for pick-up or delivery. In the heart of Casa Linda, you'll love the neighborhood and all the quaint shops. Affordable Italian food, make sure you try the Lasagna.

LOVE the pizza: I am a proud addict of their alfredo pizza with green olives --the crispy crust is to die for. Fun place for friends or a cheap date --pizza is served on a plastic cafeteria tray. Service can be questionable --sometimes it's self-seating, sometimes it's not. Go figure. But, the pizza and the relaxed, cozy atmosphere is worth returning every time.

Scalini's--what can I not say about this jewel in Lakewood? The only issue is the size of the place, but I think that adds to the intimacy and communal nature of a pizza place. The pizza crust is probably the most perfect I have found in Dallas or many other cities across the country. They cut it Chicago style, which I prefer, and I can't say enough about the flavor of the ingredients: every pizza I have had there (and I have had many!) tastes as fresh as if they bought it that day. The service isn't always great...but they try and when I go there I know I am going to get that. Despite the occasional missteps in service, I will always go to Scalini's on a date, with my kids...for any reason. Salut.

I love scalinis.: Love it. Love it love it. The salad is awesome, the bread is great, and the Crab claws are to DIE for. Every now and then they don't have them and I get sad. Oh my god and the butter they're swimming in. Yum! I haven't tried the pizza yet but the chicken parmesan is great!

FIVE STAR PIZZA but 0.1 star other menu items. This rating is for one unhappy experience, not for the restaurant in general, which remains on our list of favorites! We love Scalini's, but it does help to know what (and what not) to order here! We almost always share a pizza at Scalini's because we have always regarded it among the best of the very best around - and we really enjoy their little Italian dinner salad! We have long commended Scalini's to friends, who have in turn become loyal fans. Last night (03/08), to our regret, we decided to try 'something different'. The choices were spaghetti with sausage and eggplant parmesan. We observed long ago that Scalini's cooks have never understood the concept of 'al dente' when it comes to their pasta and so the 'ho hum' impression of their spaghetti with sausage was not that big a surprise. Not really a problem with it, just ho hum. On the other hand, the eggplant parmesan was so unpleasant that after just three bites it was left on the plate - and I honestly cannot recall doing that ever before in my life. This dish has long been a personal favorite, so in fairness I'll admit that my expectations are colored a bit by that. Even so, the texture of the Scalini's version was disagreeably mush-like, reminding instantly of the classic institutional dish of stewed tomatoes & day-old bread from my army days long ago. Rather than the expected wonderful texture and flavors that come with a light saute of the vegetable slices and tasty overlay of marinara with cheeses, I got 'mush' smothered in 'stuff' - and frankly it just plain sucked - bigtime. 'Moderation' or 'skill' were just not part of the deal here - either in the cooking or in the assembly. It is mystifying that they would let stuff like that come out of their kitchen. And while I'm on my rant, what's with the cut-up hot dog buns they're passing as 'garlic bread'? What a pitiful joke! When that stuff gets dropped on your table, the experience backs up two notches just for that! We'll definitely be back (likely this weekend), but we are not likely to be tempted ever again to stray from the pizza selections! Be warned!

Like Campisi's - it's more famous competition up the road - this place serves thin-crust pizza in a rectangular shape, cut into small slices. So, picking up one of these small slices doesn't take much of a commitment, but you'll be gobbling half a dozen down in good time, if you have any appetite. I suggest you get a bigger pizza than you think you can eat. In the event you can't eat it all, they'll gladly wrap it up the remainder in tin foil to take home and enjoy it the next day (which is always a big treat for me). Scalini's unique pizza is different from what we usually get in this part of the country, while still being different from what you get "Back East". Actually, it comes closer to the pizza I've enjoyed in Italy than any other pizza I've eaten stateside. Yet Scalini's avoids boasts like "authentic Italian style pizza" because I don't think that is what Scalini's is trying to present, Despite the kitschy Italian restauant decor and wall murals, the place is all-American. The pasta is good as well, but that isn't what you are going to Scalini's for. For me, this is just a wonderfully lowbrow place to enjoy a great pizza, a side salad and wash it all down with tap beer.

Was very disappointed to find out they don't deliver to my house because I live on Mockingbird Ln. Apparently Mockingbird is dangerous or full of bad tippers. Oh well, crappy Dominos for us again.

In the end however I would have been as much of a believer as I am now. Crunchy yet soft perfectly salted with a delicious hint of garlic...I've never had anything like it.

Scalini's Pizza and Pasta. Not the only Italian restaurant in the area but certainly one that diners from all over Dallas head to for its scrumptious ultra-thin-crust pizza. 2021 Abrams Rd. 214-821-8088.

I'm not sure how we ended up at Scalini's the other night but we did. We ordered the chicken pesto pizza (small) and an entree spinach salad with chicken.

Pizza is the specialty but the menu isn't limited to the fresh-from-the-oven thin-crust pie. Toasted cheese ravioli or garlic crab claws make great starters (or small meals) and all the specialties--veal eggplant or chicken Parmesan...
