I was pleasantly surprised. Not because the pizza was great, but because this is the first pizza I've had since moving in the area that isn't made with a pre-made crust. The pizza was overall pretty decent, but the quality of the sausage needs some work. It has a sour taste reminiscent of cheap breakfast sausage, and The crust could have used a little more time in the oven, but the rest of the ingredients were fresh. I still haven't found a pizza that rivals that of the best in Chicago, but Venice gives me hope that it is out there. I'll give this place another try (minus sausage) and ask for it to be cooked well done. Hopefully I'll be surprised again.
