5 Reasons to Order Pizza Online

For those with an extreme aversion to speaking to people on the phone, or for those who are simply unable to tear themselves away from the computer, ordering pizza online has become one of the quickest ways to get the pizza from the restaurant and into your belly. There’s no being placed on hold, and no chance of miscommunication due to a poor connection or a loud and busy restaurant. You simply head to the website of your choice, input the requested info, and you’re done. But there are tricks to ordering pizza online to get you the best possible deal and have the best possible experience.

Online Coupons

Most big name pizza places, as well as smaller, more independent ones, utilize an online coupon method. Simply select the coupon and away you go with a slightly discounted order. Depending on the pizza place, the coupons are often limited, and they change on a regular basis, so getting the same deal isn’t always guaranteed.

Thankfully, it’s possible to do a generic search for online coupons for a specific restaurant and find numerous coupons that aren’t listed on the website or in the circulars that come with your newspaper. Generally, most of the coupons codes you find will not work, but if you’re patient and can exercise considerably effective Google-fu, it’s entirely possible to find a site that contains working coupon codes for the major chain pizza delivery places, such as Dominoes and Pizza Hut.

Special Notes

Most pizza places that utilize online delivery will allow you to include special notes in your order. These can range from a specific way to cut the pizza to the ubiquitous Internet meme of asking a member of the restaurant staff to draw something on the box. Of course, it does have other uses, though they may not work.

For example, you can leave a note for the driver to pick you up a six pack of beer, the receipt of which will be met with reimbursement and a substantial tip. Of course, this is incredibly rare; most delivery drivers won’t do this unless you’re a trusted customer (delivery drivers always remember who they deliver to), and in some cases it might even be considered illegal, so exercise due caution when doing this.

It’s More Convenient for Those Not in the Right Frame of Mind

Pizza is a staple among those who have been partaking in late night activities. During these times, your judgment can be somewhat clouded, so online ordering is thus an ideal alternative to traditional phone ordering due to the fact that no phone operator wants to hear you change your mind five hundred times only to end up with a pizza with triple anchovies.

You’re Doing the Staff a Huge Favor

On busy days, answering phones at a pizza restaurant is hectic, stressful, and often met with disdain from those placing the order. People can be downright rude sometimes. But ordering pizza online eliminates the chance of this happening, and also frees up the staff to ensure your delivery is on time, hot, and prepared properly.

By freeing up the phone staff, the day to day operations move much quicker, as they’re now capable of assisting the cooking staff with preparation, loading pizzas into boxes and getting them out the door quicker, and ensuring a cleaner cooking environment. It’s a win-win situation.

Delivery Tracker!

Granted, this is limited to Dominoes Pizza, but it’s still a pretty handy way of determining just when exactly you need to put on pants so you can answer the door.

The Dominoes Pizza Delivery Tracker is a system that alerts you when the order is being made, placed in the over, checked for quality, and out the door for delivery. After delivery has been placed, it appears on a screen over the make table. Once the pizza has been made and placed in the oven, the order is cleared from the screen, moving the tracker to the next level. After the pizza has been cooked (a set time for the oven), it is placed in a box, checked for quality and accuracy, then bagged up for the delivery driver. Once the delivery driver selects his or her delivery, the tracker moves to the final level, indicating that the pizza is now on its way.

It’s surprisingly convenient, and thanks to the ingenuity of Dominoes, completely customizable in case you actually care what the theme of the tracker actually looks like.
