It's Tuesday evening. 4:30pm on Sept 22, 2008. I was looking online for pizza delivery in my area. Based on the reviews here, I thought I'd try it. I called and they wouldn't deliver to me because I'm half-a-block out of their delivery area! Half-a-block! I know they have to draw the line somewhere, but it's the first delivery service that refused to go an extra half-block! I could understand if I was calling on a busy Friday night, but... They even said they weren't busy at the moment! Not a good way to ingratiate yourself to new customers. With the economy the way it is, they must be raking in the cash to turn away business. I'm extremely disappointed in them.

The best pizza on the south side since I was a kid. The rebel is great. Fast delivery.

Since I moved to the neighborhood in 1996 and first ordered one of their pies, this has been the ONLY place I've ordered pizza from. From a basic cheese to the popular Rebel to Chicken BBQ, I have never been disappointed by the taste or quality of LHP. The sauce is amazing (I'm sure Broder's across the street would kill for the recipe), the crust perfect, and they will bend over backwards to get your order right, from the order takers right through to the delivery drivers. When we had the gas price hikes a couple of years ago, the owner himself got on the line when I ordered a pie and asked me if I'd continue to order if they charged a buck for delivery. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who told him that as long as the quality was that good, and they kept on giving out coupons, I'd be there for them. It was just such a nice gesture on his part, to actually talk to his customers and get their input. I feel so spoiled - I grew up a block from Dulono's (still sneak over there for the excellent 'zza and to soak up some bluegrass music), and now I'm five blocks from LHP!

When I got my pizza I think everyone in the place thanked me and I was charged as if I brought in the dollar-off coupon I didn't have. Very friendly service.
