Bayonne Holds Its First Pizza Challenge

On April 11, 18 and 25, Bayonne’s most awaited voting day will come as the Bayonne Community News together with Bayonne Chamber of Commerce brings their people their first annual Bayonne Pizza Challenge!

The competition ends on May 2 and winners will be announced on May 16. Voting can be done on-line or through drop-boxes.

So why did they make this contest?

Chamber President Vincent Virga aims to promote local businesses and increase the interests of locals in it by holding the event annually. What could be a better contest than the most staple viands in most restaurants?

“We at the chamber are sure that this event will be a hit for years to come.” Vincent Virga said establishing the public awareness to the quality of local restaurants.

A $300 participation fee is required from contestants and the winner receives a plaque and certificate, recognizing the restaurant as the winner of the most well attended, Chamber to Charity event.

There will be six categories: Best Regular Pizza, Best Sicilian Deep Dish Pizza, Best Thin Crust Pizza, Best Specialty or Gourmet Pizza, Best Unique Pizza Topping and Best White Pizza. The contest will allow fame opportunities, with one winner and one runner up in each category that the locals will vote for.

Other contests in Bayonne include hotdog eating contests, which is already established and held every year but the Pizza contest is uniquely different as it aspires to give restaurants their shining moment.

Currently, the contestants are excited about the event having Café Bello, Goodfella’s, Pizzalino’s, Mona Lisa, Joe’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, Naples, La Guardiola Pizzeria and the Big Apple in the contest.

May the best Pizza win!
