Chicago Experience with Stella Rossa

Three restaurants, one group and a location over at 1952 N. Halsted St. Chicago.

Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises Inc. has opened a restaurant that features three of its success – Stella Rossa Pizza Bar, M Street Kitchen and M Street Bakery. These three are all from California that is headed by Chefs Jeff Mahin and Francis Brennan.

Although the restaurant is not really a fusion of the three, rather three separate ones in one hub.

The entrance will feature M Street Bakery that offers hand-pressed espresso, pastries, house-made English muffins (served with seasonal preserves or as a sandwich with ingredients such scrambled eggs, ham, bacon and organic sausage), and eight to 10 types of cookies, and their best chocolate chip cookie.

Stella meanwhile, is a recreation of the pizzeria which its names will also be changed. The whole place will have 120 allotted seats for the pizzeria and the whole menu will adapt to Chicago although as Mr. Mahin said, "we never want to replicate the same thing, so a lot of menu items will have a Chicago focus" and it will still have its California hints.

On the third portion, a 6,500 square feet floor area is allotted for M Street Kitchen which features vegetables from local farms. Rustic California cuisine is its theme with hints of global influences. The usage of wood-fired ovens will also be used for better taste.

"The idea is that it's a neighborhood restaurant," Mr. Mahin said. " 'Simple and delicious' is the key term we're looking to have in every dish. We want it to be affordable. We'll have a good steak, a quality free-range chicken."

Artisan cocktails will also be available from each of the restaurants and is expected to open in June.
