In Massachusetts, vasectomy is one of the popular options for contraception, considering that urology clinics promote actively in the area.
The question is, how do they persuade? With free slices of pizza, of course!
The Cape Cod practice is giving away free pizza slices during March Madness, NCAA tournament season to those who opt for a vasectomy.
Urologists have explained that this would be the perfect time for sterilization procedures since the tournaments can help them relax during healing period.
The procedure would only undergo for 20 minutes but the recovery takes from two days to one week.
The commercial starts off with an eye-catching female playing with a ball saying “Hey guys! Want to watch the college basketball tournament guilt-free?" then features a free pizza with a male voiceover saying "You know you've been thinking about a vasectomy, anyway. Now's the time to get it done."
Evan Cohen stated in ABC news, "We see about 100 consults in March, when we typically may only have 20 to 30? in other months.” He also mentions that it gives couples opportunities to talk about contraception in a fun way as it has always been women who ask about the promotion.
It seems like pizza has more convincing powers, more than we can ever chew.
