Pizza restaurants in the city of Omaha worked together to support families from the community of Pilger. Pilger made national news when twin tornadoes touched down in the areas leaving a wide path of devastation.
Over 15 restaurants agreed to donate 100% of their proceeds made from their sales of large cheese pizzas. The Salvation Army will take care of distributing the proceeds in Pilger.
The fundraiser was organized by Jeff Daley, the owner of Ragazzi’s Pizza. He has done similar fundraisers in the past. He got a quick response from other pizza restaurant owners who were happy to join in the effort to provide some relief to those who needed it.
“When I saw the devastation there, I just thought: ‘What could we do to help these people,’” said Daley.
Some of the restaurants participating in the fundraiser included: Ragazzi’s, Old Chicago, Pizza Pie Guys, Big Fred’s, Mangia, Toppers, Sgt. Pepper’s, Villagio’s, Dudley’s and Baxter’s.
