There’s mother’s day, father’s day and now there’s Cab Driver Appreciation Day which happened just yesterday, June 14, 2012, at Gino’s East Chicago!
The reason behind such celebration traces back to Gino’s East story. Believe it or not, owners of the legendary establishment are two former taxi drivers, with reasons of frustration during the traffic hours back in 1996. The Pizza shop started in Michigan Avenue and Superior Street in Chicago, which now expanded to 633 N. Wells Street.
The celebration happened in the new address, between 2-4pm. Taxi drivers who pulled over the establishment received a six inch deep dish cheese pizza for free!
But just because it was free doesn’t mean it was less in quality, in fact the deep dish pizza was freshly baked in cast iron skillets that gave each customer a delicious buttery flaky crust with fresh ingredients of your choice and patty styled sausages.
The photos or videos will be posted in Gino’s East Facebook fan page, which will show the event’s success.
