A restaurant in Michigan has come up with a unique summer offering. They are offering to deliver pizzas via jet skis.
At the nearest dock, there was often a (boat) traffic jam as customers came in to try to pick up a quick pizza. The Long Lake Grocery in Traverse City, Michigan decided to take matters into their own hands.
Owner Nick Ferrugia says, “There were boats lining up to get on the dock to get their pizza and other goodies. So I thought there’s got to be a better way.”
The Long Lake Grocery has been in business since 1903. They offer groceries, beer, wine, bait and more. But locals have always been fans of the pizza.
Ferrugia commissioned a friend to build a carrier that would work on the back of his jet ski. The carrier can hold six pizzas and can withstand speeds of up to 65 MPH, but Ferrugia says he rarely travels that fast. He and his jet ski deliver to boathouses, docks and schooners.
Customers are enjoying this delivery option and don’t seem to mind the $3 delivery fee. The Long Lake Grocery social media sites are recording positive comments from their customers including:
“It’s genius!” and “True Michigan ingenuity here.”
