Jim Hearn of Hungry Howie says Goodbye

The Michigan based pizza joint called Hungry Howie was first started by Jim Hearn as a small hamburger place in 1973 that turned out to be one of the good pizza joints now. As of last March 19, 2013, Howie has already said his last goodbyes at the age of 71.

Hearn resided in Palm Harbor and has been there since 1982 and as witnessed by neighbours, he died of an illness.

"It was a complete shock," said Hungry Howie's marketing director Barry Devine. "He had just beaten cancer with his usual unassuming manner and great sense of humor. This illness came out of nowhere."

With over 200 locations spread in Florida, 550 branches nationwide and being one of the top 11 biggest companies in the pizza industry, Hungry Howie is certainly unforgettable.

"What may surprise people most about Jim, is that if a North Pinellas resident has ordered pizza from Hungry Howie's in the past 30 years, there is a very good chance that Jim delivered one of those orders. His office was a pizzeria and his board of directors were his customers. Up until his final Friday rush, Jim would be found making pizzas and helping out with deliveries from one of several Hungry Howie's locations in north Pinellas." Devine said in a news release.
