Little Caesars is trying out a new variety of pizza. It is stepping away from their traditional offerings of $5 cheese or pepperoni pizzas. Starting on September 1st, the company is having a limited time pizza launch: a pretzel-crust pepperoni pizza.
Pretzels are enjoying a surge in popularity on fast food menus. Consumer have options like Wendy’s pretzel bacon cheeseburger or Sonic’s pretzel dogs. The test version of Little Caesars offering came with mustard to drizzle on the crust, but it was determined that consumers did not enjoy that option.
The product that is being launched has a cheddar cheese sauce instead of a traditional red sauce. It also has seven types of cheese and salt sprinkled on the crust. The company is charging $6 for this new offering. It will be offered only from September 1st through October 26th. It will be offered as one of their ‘hot-and-ready’ options.
Senior Vice President of global marketing, Edward Gleich says, “There are more things in the pipeline. What we’re hearing from our customers is a little change will not hurt.
Currently, Little Caesars is estimated to be the third largest pizza chain in the United States, with Pizza Hut ranking first and Domino’s ranking second.
