A new Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurant is opening on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. The plans are for a two-story restaurant. Developer Andy Blieden is planning the 5,900 square foot space on the site that was formerly the Miracle Dry Cleaners.
The restaurant chain also has Louisville stores in both St. Matthews and Middletown. The plans filed with the Metro Department of Planning and Design Services show the cost estimate on the project is $1.2 million.
Although the projects is considered a brownfield because of the contamination caused by the previous cleaning business, there is an approved plan for development from the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection.
The Mellow Mushroom restaurant will have a second-story patio area that will allow their guests to dine outside. The development of the restaurant is considered a needed improvement for the space, as for some time, the property has been considered an eyesore.
