Major League Baseball fans proved that they’re not just intense when it comes to supporting their teams. They also are very serious about their pizza.
MLB.com had a promotion running that offered free pizzas after the first and second no hitters of the 2014 season. They were planning on giving away 20,000 Domino’s pizzas to people with an account at MLB.com.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, Josh Beckett pitched the first no-hitter of the year this past Sunday. When MLB.com account holders went to the site to claim their free pizzas, the amount of traffic crashed the site.
Before long, folks took to social media to express their disappointment in the crashed site. The hashtag #DomiNoNo was quickly trending on Twitter.
Here’s one sample of a Twitter user’s response to the crashed site:
“I never thought it would be easier to throw a no hitter than to give away free pizzas”
