A group in Bakersfield, California has created an app that they hope will help local people save money, specifically on pizza purchases.
Four friends got together to work on the app called My Slice.
“We want the people of Kern County to know that we want this to work here. We wanted it to benefit them. We love our community and we want to help people in any way we can,” said David Castro, one of those responsible for the app.
The app is meant to be used as a one-stop shopping point for finding pizza restaurants and pizza deals.
Daniel Palacios, another one of the developers said, “We’ve been working on it for months and months and months out, countless hours trying to come up with how it’s going to look, the design, the layout, the symbols, everything. It took a lot of effort.”
The app is available for Kern County residents and is free to download. Those behind the app are not making any profits. They consider it a way to bring businesses and customers together.
Carlos Hernandez of My Slice says, “Everyone is so busy with jobs, work, with family, we don’t have time to go on each pizza parlor’s website or through the phone number and look at coupons. Now there’s this convenient way where you can localize every single deal in town.”
The pizza parlors are seeing a benefit from the app. They believe it will bring in new customers.
The developers of My Slice hope that one day they might take their app to bigger cities throughout the country.
