Meghan Wagner has gone from employee to owner of Village Pizza in New Paltz. She and business partner Renee Mitchell purchased the restaurant from previous owner, Anthony Prizzia. They took over the restaurant at the beginning of July.
“We are looking forward to changing some things, but also keeping some things the same,” says Wagner. On the list of changes are some small renovations and a few menu changes.
The new owners hope to attract more of the college crowd. A lot of the college aged students head to Main Street instead of Route 32 where Village Pizza is located. They hope to change that trend.
“We definitely want to get it back to what it used to be,” says Wagner. “We used to have lines out the door for ice cream.”
At only 25, Wagner spent almost 5 years as Village Pizza’s manager. Her brother also worked at the restaurant and she met business partner Mitchell working together at the restaurant. The purchase of the restaurant seemed to be the natural progression in Wagner’s career path.
