Patxi’s Pizza and its Innovative Service

When a pizza company and technology blends in harmony, the effect on the restaurant’s growth would be a resounding success.

Patxi’s, a San Francisco based pizza company has been ranked 24th in Inc. Magazine’s annual list of fastest growing privately held companies in the food and beverage category and 1215th overall in the yearly 5000 list.

The pizza restaurant started in 2004 with entrepreneur Bill Freeman and pizza maker Francisco “Patxi” Azpiroz partnered in opening up the restaurant. Patxi’s now has 11 locations mostly in the Bay Area and 2 locations in Denver.

Patxi’s is known for its Chicago-style deep dish pizzas. In three years, the company has a growth rate of 342 percent earning them $14.2 million. In 2009, the company earned $3.2 million. The company has grown to employ 418 people and generated 298 jobs for the past 3 years.

With the unique Polished Casual pizza concept, Patxi’s bested a few other brands into being the only pizza restaurant to be included in the Inc. 5000 list. The recognition makes everyone proud at Patxi’s especially Bill Freeman.

In a very competitive market like San Francisco, it is hard to be voted in a specific category. Being voted 2 years in a row as the Best Pizza in San Francisco boosted Patxi’s growth. Putting better quality and profits above cheap service and higher costs proved to be a great business model for the restaurant.

With the blooming pizza restaurant business, other brands are planning on being aggressive with their approach in terms of growth. Bill Freeman said that execution would be the key as the fight for being the best pizza gets tougher.

Patxi’s are planning to expand by opening six new restaurants by the end of 2014. Aside from the quality of their pizzas, innovative measures are being met by the company in order to serve its customers better.

Patxi’s is working out on lessening the waiting time to claim orders for both dine-in guest and delivery orders during peak hours with the help of its software Pic-a-Pie. The software aims to lessen waiting or delivery time of consumers by working through a predictive algorithm that Patxi’s has developed which forwards the orders to the kitchen. The orders are shown through the restaurant’s tablets and online delivery.

With this technology in the process of being launched soon, Patxi’s has lined itself to another great year onwards being listed again on the Inc. 5000 list next year.
