Pizza Cuz Participates to East Bay Pizzerias

Cooking channel has a new show and it is all about Bay Area Pizza called Pizza Cuz. The first episode was held at Temescal Stalwart Pizzaiolo found at 5008 Telegraph Ave. Oakland and was starred by Francis Garcia and Sal Basille.

The sincerity of the love for Bay Area pizza was obvious for both Garcia and Basille.

“I really did leave my heart in San Francisco.” said Garcia.

The first episode was all about pizza masters and to start it off, the episode introduced Pizzaiolo chef-owner Charlie Hallowell in a very close experience from the farmers' market to creating the dish.

The secret ingredient in his dish, which was a wild nettle, was something everyone took granted and according to Garcia, he never heard of it until the shoot stating “I was thinking to myself, ‘Is this some kind of weird Bay Area thing, where you put it in your mouth and your mouth stings?’” he also added “I was eating weeds, and I was loving them!”

The goal of the show is to show every pizzeria in the country in their channel, showing off specialties, techniques and recipes, and even its operations.

But despite many great tasting pizzerias, there is only one Bay Area Institution in the Northern California that Garcia loves very much and it is Berkley's Cheese Board Pizza found at 1512 Shattuck Avenue. This pizzeria won't be missed as it will soon be shown in their third episode.

“There was something about The Cheese Board that was electric when you went inside,” Garcia said, “I never saw more pizza than was pumped out at the Cheeseboard in my life.”

The episodes already started and is showing on the Cooking Channel from 6-10 p.m. in its 30 minutes of pure pizza love.
