Pizza Myth: Do We Need Tips?

The belief behind this myth goes like this - people strongly believe that the pizzeria or the pizza chain pays enough for their delivery drivers, hence no tip is necessary.

The facts:

People may be right about this if the pizzeria was generous to their employees but more often than not, stores don't pay enough and in fact, only a few pay as high as the minimum wage.

As people go through the salary rules, pizzerias get away with these low salaries in a form of "tip allowance." This simply means that pizza shops are allowed to provide wages below the minimum provided that tips make up the difference.

The sad part here comes in the advertisments that show $12 to $20 per hour salary - which didn't really explain that it already includes tips. In truth, their wage only amounts to $6 per hour. The only benefit they get is the reimbursement for gas.
