Pizza Only Store by Casey's

Casey's General Stores, a shop that is known for its gas stations and convenience store in Pleasant Hill, is putting up a new shop that will only feature one dish - Pizza.

On August 1 around Water's Edge Shopping Center located at 4420 E. University Ave Pleasant Hill, the convenience store Casey's will be expanding and opening pizzas to customers in slices or boxes. Fountain drinks, bread sticks, frozen yogurts and chicken wings are also available in this 1,600 square foot store.

“The demand for pizza in Pleasant Hill is very strong, and we wanted an alternative to serve the east side of Des Moines,” said Bill Walljasper, senior vice president and chief financial officer, as he explained that the shop sells over 100 pizzas a night.

Over 48 million slices and 12 million whole pizzas were sold last year and the most popular topping is the pepperoni. With this number in mind, Casey's is looking at the new pizza-only-shop idea in a big point of view.

Customers can choose toppings from a simple pepperoni to buffalo chicken, taco and even a chicken-bacon-ranch.

“It will be a stand-alone pizza store without the other amenities,” he said.
