Sometimes a pizza is more than a pizza. The California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has used their restaurants to support various worthy causes including fallen LAPD officers.
CPK recently used their Pizza With a Purpose campaign to support various families of fallen officers. Customers present a Pizza with a Purpose flyer to their server and the restaurant then donates 20% of their total food and beverage purchases to the cause. For example from fundraisers in the month of April, CPK was able to present a check for $20,000 to the Panorama City Police Station to support the families of 2 fallen officers from the area.
CPK opened its first restaurant in 1985. At that time they made a commitment to participate in the communities where their restaurants are located. In 2013 alone, the company was able to contribute $1.1 million to a variety of community organizations via over 5,000 fundraisers. They also donate all the proceeds from their cookbooks to children’s charities.
Currently CPK has restaurants in 11 different countries. They are known for their authentic California-style cuisine and signature hand-tossed, hearth baked pizzas.
