Raymond’s Pizza is celebrating 50 years in Cherry Hill. Owner Raymond Gambone says he’s learned a lot through the years.
He acquired his first shop on Township Lane when the previous owner needed to sell. At the time, Gambone was just starting college. Fifty years later he is still using the same recipes he stumbled upon in the early days. His pan pizza is what he calls the ‘original Raymond’s pizza’. A thin crust option is also on the menu.
Although his shop has moved several times, his regular customers have followed him to each new place. He says when he opened in 1964 there were only 3 pizzas in his area, and now there are 30.
Gambone still takes care of the food prep.
“I make the meatballs, the sauces, the blended cheeses for the pizza. I come in and set everything up. Everything is made here.”
Raymond’s is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 9pm. Fridays and Saturdays they are open from 11am to 10pm. Customers can dine on a variety of food in addition to the pizza including pasta, salads, seafood, chicken, veal and more.
