U.S. Military Service Members in Afghanistan Makes it in Guinness Book of World Records

Extra ordinary things listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, including the U.S. military service members' mission that involved delivering pizza in Afghanistan.

According to the record, this has been the largest delivery of pizza so far. Thanks to Pizza 4 Patriots, a huge delivery of 30,000 pizzas were brought to Kandahar, Bagram and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan for Independence day.

This non-profit organization found in Illinois has been sending pizzas for over 5 years now and the June 21, 2012 delivery has been a big achievement for them. DHL was the sponsoring delivery company that made it also possible for delivery. CEO of DHL Express Ian Clough was proud of the achievement, stating that "“Feedback from U.S. troops who received the care packages has been heartwarming as they truly appreciate the recognition for their valuable service,”

The recognition for largest delivery was just recognized this month as founder of Pizza 4 Patriots and retired Air Force master sergeant Mark Evans worked hard for it.

He is pleased with this added accomplishment but also states that “The world record is secondary to taking care of our soldiers and sending them a slice of home,”

Pizzas donated are made by Great Kitchens, Inc. which is also helped by donations from various sources.

This year, Pizza 4 Patriots has achieved delivering 21,000 pizzas to the military members for Super Bowl and is currently targetting 25,000 pizzas for Independence day this year.
