Wanted: 6,000 Pizza Makers in Italy

According to the Italian Business group FIPE, over 6,000 pizzaiuolis are needed in Italy as these locals are starting to migrate on to other countries for employment opportunities.

Apparently, Italy has the worst unemployment rate in two decades. Italian Federation of

Confcommercio Companies for Italy has also reported that the employment is not as good as it looks and locals have different point of views about being a pizzaiuoli.

"The Italian mindset is that being a pizza-maker is humiliating. It is a manual labor job,”

Alessandro Rossi, owner of a pizzeria in Rome, told The Telegraph newspaper.

U.S. President of the Association of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli Roberto Caporuscio says that this is not a surprise for him as nowadays, more of the pizza makers are immigrants, who are mostly from Egypt.

Though in America, pizzerias are not occupied by Italian pizza makers either but has also immigrants for a cook.

“Most of the immigrants (in U.S. pizza kitchens) are from Latin America,” he said.
