Where to Find Unusual Toppings: Potato and Nutella

Many experiments has been made with pizzerias just to satisfy the taste buds of customers. If you would like to try and experiment on pizza toppings, the best advice is to make your own. Although not all of us have the time to make our own home made pie, here are a couple of pizzerias you could go to to try out a different topping:

1. La Bella Pizza Bistro's Potato Pizza

Potatoes are becoming a popular topping in the pizza industry, which La Bella Pizza Bistro took advantage of as they feature their Potato Au Gratin Deep Dish pizza.

Different kinds of cooking methods are used to make the potato pizza irresistable, varying from thin sliced, tater tots, au gratin, mashed or even fried and topped to your pie!

In La Bella Pizza Bistro's case, they mashed the potatoes, added caramelized onions, cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan on it and served it to New York customers. They have been using this recipe for 15 years now.

“We were just playing around in the kitchen one day, trying different toppings that would fill a deep-dish pie. The mashed potatoes were a perfect fit.” said Maria Lisanti.

This pie tastes even better if it is topped off with bacon, broccoli or sour cream for added flavor.

2. Gialina and Ragazza's Nutella Pizza

Even ice cream cones can inspire chefs to create an outstanding pizza, such as the Nutella pie at Gialina and Ragazza.

Nutella has been known as a versatile topping which can be combined with fruit, toast or even anything experimental. This chocolate and hazelnut combination has been added on to the San Francisco's pie and adding mascarpone and amaretti in it.

“Nutella is one of those classic Italian products that I knew I wanted to incorporate into the dessert menu in some way. I tried about 10 different combinations and knew immediately when I had the winner.” said Sharon Ardiana, owner of Gialina and Ragazza
