Winners! First Day of Dayton’s Pizza Competition

Thirty two pizza restaurants started to battle to be the best pizzeria last Monday at Dayton Business Journal’s Pizza Madness competition.

The restaurants chosen to participate comprise of Dayton-based restaurants and several regional and national chains. Outright on its very first day, the tournament has had its fair share of excitement as two battles came down the wire as there were some that ran away as sure winners. The following day was teeming with exhilaration as four more match ups opened for voting that lasted until midnight with the winners moving on to the second round the week after.

Blazing the trail were Milano’s Atlantic City Subs and Giovanni Pizzeria who both won at least 80 percent of the votes on Monday. Following them were Uno Chicago Grill and Doubleday’s Monster Pizza with 56 and 55 percent of votes respectively.

The first round of voting ended Thursday that featured four match ups per day with the winner from each first round advanced to the 2nd round that began Monday July 22.
