Would It Be Okay to Leave the Leftover Pizza Out?

Many dishes are often forgotten in the refrigerator for long periods of time and one of those is the very common dish called pizza.

The question here is - would it be okay to leave the pizza out long?

Simple answer from Fit Day states that it depends on the environment and the time period, with safety issues kept in mind.

The box may keep it away from contamination but the bacteria that could possibly grow from its own ingredients should also be considered.

How long would be too long out be?

An hour is still safe and some pizzas only contains so little bacteria that hardly affects humans but once it grows, consuming the leftover pizza would be questionable already. Illness can occur if a rotten cheese be consumed or those molded crusts can leave you with diarrhea.

What temperature should the pizza be left out with?

Having a cold environment has its benefits and leaving the pizza out longer is one of them. Cold temperatures rend to avoid bacteria growth, hence less harm to the body.

A warming station such as an oven can also allow you to keep your pizza safe from bacteria. But the best is still to put the pizza in the fridge where it could last the pizza's edible traits longer!

Would it be safe to eat a pizza left overnight?

Though many of us have already done this, the US Department of Agriculture states that this shouldn't be the decision of consumers. Pizza is still a perishable good and shouldn't even be left out for more than 2 hours.

Just to be safe, just eat the pizza once delivered!
