The Pizza here is awfull, the big freds special is more like shepherds pie than pizza- way to much bad sausage. Go to Zios Pizza for a good pie in Omaha.

Big Freds: I love the service, employees, food and everything else there is about it. Been going since I was a child and plan on taking my kids when they're born.

I'd travel a lot farther for this pizza.: We lived in Omaha, then moved to a small town about 100 miles away and when we would commute. The one thing we always made sure we did was pick up a Big Fred's Pizza or stop in to eat there. When we moved back, we were regular customers. The best pizza, the most fun atmosphere! It is one of the few traditions that have weathered the years in Omaha. I am glad to see they are still going strong, with so many new pizza places in the mix now. It is child friendly, I was a kid when I started going & as an adult I take my children. I still love it as much as ever and now they do too. Great pizza, onion rings & roast beef that you can't find anywhere else.

It's an Omaha Icon - Tradition! Try it!: Our family has been Big Fred customers since the mid-60's. We love the pizza and periodically find ourselves just plain hungry for a Big Fred's pizza and salad! If you're looking for spicy or thick crust, stop by Pizza Hut, Old Chicago, or somewhere else. It's also the kind of spot for larger groups (relatives here from out of town with the kids, and where should we go place) ... or if you just want to kick back for a couple of (good bar) drinks, pizza & conversation. Definitely not your "fancy evening out". Be ready for the RED carpeted walls!!! Service is friendly and excellent...always!

Boring food: We ordered a sausage and cheese pizza. The pizza had a ton of cheese on it. Ordinarily, I don't mind a lot of cheese, but you figure out quickly that it is the only ingredient they use. There is no spices allowed on this pizza, apparently. It was bland.

Horrid is all I can say. Sausage was terrible. Just as Bill said. WAY TOOOO MUCH. Could not taste anything else than that. Lady asked me when she saw me taking pictures of it what I was doing. I told her I was going to tell her if it was in MY opinion, Omahas best pizza. NO. All I had was sausage, but could not taste the sauce cept on the edges. When I did it was a chunk tomato sauce and I am not real fond of that either. But really could not taste anything with the LAYER of small fine partially cooked sausage. Lady said it was the best sausage in the state of Nebraska. yea right. Cheese? Again the worthless sausage was so overwhelming one could not taste anything else on the pizza. I did ask for it to be well done and that was good. It may be good to some people as they were plenty busy but to this person it was HORRIBLE. I am not a thick crust pizza person but to date, ORSI's is the best in Omaha. Do not like to compare or state that but if the truth hurts you better change something. I will give 2 stars as the crust was decent and the cheese was browning as it was cooked to my liking.

I wish Big Fred's would franchise to Phoenix. They have the best pizza I've ever had. It was one of my favorites when I lived in Omaha and it's the first place I go to once I get off the plane when I come back to visit.

BEST PIZZA IN TOWN!: AWESOME PIZZA! Great pasta and appetizers! Great value too! Mid town location. The only drawback is you could wait for hours to be seated and/or pick up carry-out on weekend nights! But hey, I've waited more times than I can count and since their IS a wait - you know it's good! The hours are awesome too! They serve full menu until midnight!

As I've read in a few of the other reviews, Big Fred's is WAY OVERATED and definitely not the best in Omaha, unless you like lots of beef/hamburger with no sauce or taste on some bread. Also, we ordered a fish sandwich. It was fried past well done and looked just like you buy in the frozen dept in the store, including the HAMBURGER bun. The service was SLOW even tho there was plenty of help and not very busy while we were there. Will we go back? Not unless someone invites us there for a special occasion and then we would even have to consider it.

Great pizza: We love the pizza. Our family that lives 3 hours away request we bring half baked pizzas with us when we come to visit. The salads and pasta are also very good.

Great Salad: The pizza is great, but there is something about the salad that makes me crave it. All it is is iceberg lettuce with an olive, anchovy & house dressing.Of course alittle romano dosen't hurt! Even salad snobs love it & no one knows why!

Not worth the wait.: Food is below average for what is available these days for italian and pizza. There are much better tasting products in Omaha. It seems the popularity is based on sentimental reasons.

A+ Pizza: It doesn't get better. The pizza is hot, fresh and tastey. It is by far the best pizza in Omaha. The salads are great too.

Pizza Restaurant: The Real Thing: The pizza at Big Fred's is classic Italian pizza: flat crust, ground meat, mozzarella cheese, and cut into squares. That and all the other recipes they use (salad, mostaccioli sauce, etc) are genuine Italian cooking, made from scratch, and as far as I know, haven't changed in the 40+ years they have been there. So you won't get the typical "premanufactured food" so common to other restaurants. You can also order a variety of other items, to accommodate guests with you who might not be in the mood for pizza at the time: mostaccioli rigati, rigatoni, spaghetti, garlic bread, several specialty sandwiches, meatballs, etc. I've met many many people over the years who have many different opinions about the pizza. A fair amount of people have to get used to it before they like it; some people don't like it; but by far, there are a lot of people who will tell you that the more they eat it, they just can't get enough of it. It's difficult to describe the restaurant itself. It's not impersonal like a chain restaurant (because it's not). It's definitely not your "hole-in-the-wall" where you happen to discover the best food on earth. It's got a "sports bar" ambience since Fred's into sports- see the picture of him (wall to your left) making a score in golf, right along with all the other sports greats- and they do have a bar in the middle of the restaurant. The lighting is kind of low. They have several TV screens. It seems to be just fine to take the family to, yet at the same time you can take a date there with some class, go on a business luncheon, or even go there with your buddies for a night of fun on the town and meet other like-minded people. Bottom line is, whoever you're with and whatever you want to get out of a pizza restaurant, you won't be disappointed. It's easy to find and in a nice part of town. I suppose since you're reading this you're travelling; another plus to considering Big Fred's is that if on another night you decide on steak, Brother Sebastian's, also on the Top Restaurant List, is just about on the other side of the parking lot.

The most unrespectful staff EVER! or at least one person of their staff. I just got off the phone with a woman from there and i don't think i've ever been so disrespected in my life. I work for a large, well known company in Omaha and I called them to place an order for Monday, (today is Friday). I thought it would be respectful to give them some notice that i would be wanting to place an order for over 100 people in advance. Well, the woman i spoke with told me that they only take orders the day of and they open at 11. I asked her if i could give her my order today, so that i wouldn't have to call in on Monday at 11, for an 11:30 pick up of over 15 pizzas/salad & Breadsticks. She up'd her tone and said "i'm sorry, was i not clear, we only take orders the day of and we open at 11. I kind of feel bad writing this review because i know it's probably just that one person that has that terrible attitude...and i don't even like their pizza, but i thought it would be good change up who our company gets pizza from. Let's just say my company now knows what kind of people they have working there and we will not be ordering from there anymore. Especially when there are so many other choices of companies/people who are a lot more accomodating to their clients. I would not wish this kind of service on anyone.

Best Food in Omaha: This place is the best pizza in Omaha. But not only great pizza...they have fantastic pasta sauce and their salads are the best. Service is good. Their Prime Rib is better than most steak houses. I wish there were more restaurants like this. Also, Big Freds is way cheaper than places like Chilis and Applebees, but far and away better.

Just Horrible: As an East-Coaster, I was in town for the NCAAs, grabbed a six-pack and a Big Fred's - beer was good, pizza was cheese and cardboard. What's with the squares?

Big Freds features a medium thickness pizza. The best pizza is their hamburger topping. Other than that it's sort of ordinary. If you like good pizza check out the reviews for Franks Pizzeria.

Best Pizza: I've gone to Big Freds since the late 60s when they rented Honda scooters next door and the place was a pick up window; The restaurant has been a Skylark neighborhood tradition for as long as I can remember. The food is great and service is just plain straight forward and attentive- Big Fred and Little Rose only hire the best and serve the best- I have never experienced an "off" day or an "off" meal, ever. I have traveled and eaten literally everywhere, and nothing matches the pizza. I regret that Big Fred's does not ship, somebody is missing a fortune to be made.

Best Pizza Ever!!: I have lived all over the world and had pizza in just about every country. Although each pizza does have it's own regional taste and style, if you're looking for an honest, basic homestyle pizza; you won't find one any better than Big Fred's! I grew up in Omaha as a kid, and it was always a special treat to go to Big Fred's on a Friday night after a high school football game, or even a Saturday afternoon to relax and watch the Huskers play. Big Fred's is an Omaha icon. I now live in California, but when my travels take me back through Omaha, it's guaranteed that I will be at Big Fred's within an hour of my arrival into town.

I'd say the best pizza in Omaha.: They have authentic New York style pizza. Their pizza is awesome, their appetizers are good. The pasta is OK. The service is great. If you are in the mood for great pizza, this place I would recommend. I would say if you're in a casual mood and don't mind eating in a sports oriented eatery, then it's a good place for eating at. I would say they have the best pizza in Omaha if not then one of the best at the very least. If you're anywhere near 120th and Pacific or Regency or interstate 680 highway and Pacific street exit and you want good food, stop in order takeout if you want the best takeout pizza. It's located about 1 block east of 120th street at Pacific street on south side of Pacific street. I've been there several times and I would go again next time I'm in that area of Omaha(unfortunately it's a little over a mile from someone who hurt me though so I probably won't make it out there much though).

Middle of the Pack: Omaha is full of great pizza places... this just isn't one of them. Thick gooey pizza (not my favorite style), crowded and noisy (lots of kids and tables way to close). I'll pass....

Not what it once was: Big Fred's has been an Omaha Icon for many years, but I fail to see the value except as a destination to bring your family, let the kids run around and relax. Ive given the restaurant 3 visits in the last year and probably won't return. The pizza is average at best and the same goes for the service. While friendly, our last visit yielded a 30 minute wait for the pizza. It's a good place for a very informal bite to eat, but certainly nothing to rave about.

The wait was too long the service was terrible and the food really wasn't all that good (it came out cold). I had heard a lot of good things about Big Fred's but when my wife and I went one Friday night...ugh. We had about a 15 minute wait which wasn't bad but it took about 10 minutes from the time we were seated for ANYONE to take our order. Then our order a simple 2 topping pizza took about 25 minutes to get out to us. In the meantime we didn't get water bread...nothing. Our waitress didn't even check on us. Our food arrived just as we were about to leave and go someplace else. The pizza was cold and not very good. I would NOT reccomend this place to anyone. Go to Zio's for family pizza or Vincenco's or Vivace for good Italian.
