I grew up 5 minutes from Vincent's Pizza Park. My whole family knows Vince himself and I ate my first meal from a restaurant at the age of 4, and it was a "Vinnie Pie"! Every year my at my dad's birthday party, his buddies bring Vincent's pizza in the paper wrapping, stapled shut (they don't have boxes of any sort). I now live 15 minutes from Vincent's and I still make it there as much as I can. GREATEST PIZZA EVER!!!!!

Having heard this was the best pizza in the 'burgh, two of my buddies and I went to Vincent's with excitement in our hearts and grumbling tummies. Unfortunately it was quite honestly the worst pizza I've ever eaten. All three of us had serious gastro-intestinal distress after we ate that nastiness and we'll never understand why everyone in Pittsburgh seems to think it's delicious. Soggy, greasy and wet.

WAAAAAAY overated: This is quite possibly the most overated pizza in the burgh. The crust is soggy & cheese xtra xtra greasy. The toppings are fresh but the pizza overall is pretty bad. SKIP IT.

Best pizza in the world: While I haven't eaten pizza in every pizza place in the world, I have eaten it in restaurants rated best in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, as well as in Italy - and Vincent's is the best I've had. And I moved away almost 25 years ago, but I like the pizza enough to write this review now, and every time I'm in the area I find a way to go to Vincent's. I think the secret is cooking the pizza rather than just melting the cheese, coupled with great italian sausage. Most other pizza places pretty much leave the pizza in the oven long enough to melt the cheese. Vincent leaves his in long enough for the sausage to cook, and all the flavors meld. This takes something like 1/2 hour, so I assume it's a more expensive process. So when you eat the pizza, you don't notice "Here's a bite that tastes of sausage", and then, "Here's a bite that tastes like pizza sauce", etc., but instead you taste a combined flavoring that I love, and haven't found anywhere else. Fair warning though - when you cook the cheese rather than just melt it, you get grease coming off of it, and that pretty much precludes a cripsy crust in the center of the pan. The edges are great, though - bread that puffs up about an inch to an inch that tastes like good crusty french or italian bread. And the best pizzas are when they're "burned a little around the edges". Just a bit of carbonation like on a grilled steak. My favorite was always double sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. I didn't much care for the pepperoni there. So unless you don't consider it pizza unless it has pepperoni, I'd suggest leaving it off. And the service has improved 1000% since I was going there back in the early '80s. Now they're friendly, actually bring what you ask for, and never gripe at you. Of course, maybe I look less like a college student now... So, don't go there for health food, don't go there if you can't stand grease, but go there if you want a wonderful taste experience that will stay with you for years.

unusual pie: This place has its own style of pizza. It is a well done pizza and even more well done if you get the sausage on it. It comes with huge amounts of toppings still, just like Vincent used to make it. The crust is really hard to beat. I tend to like a pizza with some sort of meat on it. Sausage here is really quite good. The pepperoni is a good choice as well, but of course you will be drinking water all night. This pizza is very filling and you will either love or hate it, due to how unique it is. I got a plain one once and really didn't care for it. Strange but true. The toppings really make quite a difference on this one. If you like meat, get sausage and pepperoni. If you want a mix sausage and onion. You want a veggie, go with onion and green pepper. Yeah, I have had a ton of pie here. Well, I have eaten many pizzas in the Pittsburgh area.

Amazing Pizza..: If you're in Pittsburgh at all, you have to look up one of the few Vincent's Pizza's in the area. I went to the one in forest hills when I lived there numerous times and was having a hard time holding off the drool.. Amazing. To describe this pizza, the large pizza is one huge round pizza, and if you order any toppings, they're huge too. EVerything pools into the center, including cheese, grease, toppings, and you grab a bit of the huge crust from the outer rim and dip it into the center. Not your typical pizza, definately greasy, cheesy to the max, with amazing toppings. Definately one of a kind. This place will also let you order from a distance and they'll deliver it in dry-freeze so you can recreate this masterpiece at home. Personally i'd make the trip just for the pie.

After dining...if you can call it that, at Vincents in Holiday Park tonight, I drove home in tears. I am requesting the owner's phone number. Our pizza took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to our table. (The waitress did not put it in.) Then after complaining two young waitresses spoke ill about me at the bar because they thought I didn't leave a tip. Then the blond woman who called herself the owner, came over and would not listen to me speak and grabbed my money out of my hand and told me to leave. I have never been so embarassed and humiliated before. I am contacting the BBB and possibly the news.

Most overrated pizza in Pittsburgh: Vincent's pizza just isn't very good: the dough is bland, the sauce lacks flavor, and the cheese is greasy. Toppings are heaped on, which makes the dough very soggy in the center. Crusts are OK texture-wise but the dough just doesn't taste like much of anything. The atmosphere is kind of divey and there's no non-smoking section. Beer prices were OK but the pizza was overpriced given the quality. The staff were all very nice and worked hard, but we won't be going back.

Best pizza in the whole world. The place is not that great to eat at but the food is amazing and the beer selection is good as well.

I moved to Boston, MA 10 years ago and I still dream of Vincent's Pizza. Before I left Pittsburgh the one thing I made sure I did was get a Pizza from Vincent's Pizza. There is nothing like it anywhere. I grew up on Vinnies and it is the best. Please never close!

I have lived in 5 different states and visited 11 different countries. In my humble opinion, this is the best pizza I have every eaten! The taste of this pizza is unique. As I am told by other pizza vendors in Pittsburgh, Vince's (legendary since 1950's) outstanding taste comes from fresh ingredients, specially ordered and made to Vince's original specifications. Owning a business in Pittsburgh, we have entertained business visitors from around the country. We have taken many to Vince's over the years. Invariably, most say it is the best they've ever had and demand we take them there when they return to town! A couple of them have told me that they dream about it and now, no other pizza will do! While living in Texas, I was waiting in a line to enter a movie theatre and overheard, "No, your wrong, the best Pizza in the country is a place called Vince's in Pittsburgh!" I simply smiled. I also know of numerous people who have moved away from Pittsburgh and have a Vince's pizza Fed Ex'd to them (half-baked, then packed in dry ice) by relatives, on their birthday or special occasions . This Pizza is nationally known, and was featured in a " Wall Street Journal" article back in the nineties. It is a must for anyone who appreciates a good pie! Beware though! Once you've had it - no other pie will suffice!

incomparably delicious: I've just been back to Vincent's, having moved away in 1985. What extraordinary pizza! The wonderfully yeasty crust is swamped by volumes of cheese and, on the pie I got, sweet sausage (with caraway seeds) and fresh, fresh, mushrooms. The over-all effect is a pizza you never forget. It is messy, and oily, and delicious. If you are in Pittsburgh, visit Vincent's! (Mineo's and Aiello's are not in the same league...)

World's Best Pizza!!!!: I grew up in Vincent's neighborhood and learned to love Vinnie pies early in life. We now live out of state but the first thing we do every time we visit is get a pie! The big piles of fresh toppings, the mounds of cheese, the crust that looks like its been dragged down Ardmore Blvd. What could be better?! If only Vinnie did mail order!!!

This pizza just isn't the same as the Orginal.. If you want a REAL Vinnie Pie go to the one in North Huntingdon that is still making it like Vince used to.724-864-7059 You won't regret it!

You Need to Expierence a Vinnie Pie!: If you ever come to Pittsburgh, and you want some GREAT pizza at a VERY reasonable price, you have to go to Vincent's and get a Vinnie Pie. Now the pizza may seem overly greasy to those not used to it, but it's from all the toppings. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. Oh, and you better know where you're going, because they DO NOT deliver. The original owner, Vincent said, "If people aren't willing to drive to pick up the pizza, then it's not good enough." I agree. I'd drive a million miles for a Vinnie Pie!

A 'Vinnie Pie' isn't for everyone: This pie might not be for everyone, but it is still the best tasting pizza Pittsburgh has ever seen. "Mineo's" eat your heart out. Papa John is stuck in the john. Pizza Hut, stay under your own roof. Vince is the man of all pizza-men. Don't come here if you want good service. Don't come here if you can't handle a not-so-sanitary dining area. But if you are man enough to overcome your fears and dig into the most famous concoction Pittsburgh offers, then take this advice: when you get your pizza, do NOT pick up a slice. All the toppings will fall off right onto the pan. Instead, cut the slice with your semi-clean knife, then gently SLIDE it onto your plate (put your plate so that the lip goes under the pie pan) using your fork to make sure you don't leave any toppings on the pan. Enjoy!

I live in LA too. I've not found a better pizza than Vincent's in New York or LA. San Fran's North Beach has really good pizza though.

Absolutely Yummy!: We decided to try Vincent's after living in the area for 2 years and I'm sad that we didn't go sooner! It is the biggest, yummiest pizza... chocked full of hot, drippy cheese and a TON of pepperoni. Usually I can eat 3 slices of pizza, but I had a very, very hard time eating 2 because of the size and all the toppings. I was hooked on Primanti's... but this beats it - hands down! You gotta try it!

My husband and I were taking my 8 year old grandaughter home last Sunday and thought we would stop and treat her to some Vincent's Pizza. We stopped at the Forest Hills restaurant. We ate Vincents before but not at this location in years. The first impression getting out of your car--is the fear of falling because the outside entrance is in bad shape. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms. When it arrived--I had to pick the food off my fork from the previous customers..(yum). The pizza had huge crust--which was very doughy and under cooked. The mushrooms were from a can and all the juice from them were under the pizza. It was so bad. When we left my grandaugher told us that the pizza wasn't very good. 8 year olds review was right on. We took some of the crust out to the car and my dog wouldnt even eat it. We will never go back there again. Save your money---go to another location or another pizza restaurant. Oh..the place is dirty and dingy on top of the nasty pizza.

Anywhere you can get a pizza this good and some beers to wash it down is bound to be a winner. I cant believe how much pepperoni they can fit on this pie. Awesome.

Vincent's Pizza Park in Forest Hills Plum and Irwin are the only ones I know about but you should call the original Ardmore ave. location and check about the authenticity of all the locations. I know there was someone making copy cat...
