The last few times I went I wasnt happy. The pizza was cold and not cooked through. I know the crust is pre made but it seems like they just through it in the oven for a few minutes. It's freezing in the establishment, which I think is the reason that within minutes the pizza is cold. It's a bit pricey!!!!

I don't get it.: Read all the stellar reviews of Caserta and thought I'd give it a try. Very disappointing. Reminded me of the Stop & Shop frozen pizza my mother used to heat up for me as a kid! Given that the service and ambiance are so crappy, I'd hoped the food would make up for it. Not so much. Next time I will just stick with Fellini. : (

better than Dominos but: a legend in many peoples minds but only the whimpy skimpy spinach pie stands out among the offerings in any other independent pizza outfit.

I jones for their wimpy skippys!: their spinach pie is in a class by itself! i usually order a few at a time so i have extras at home. i agree the pizza has been iffy. kind of dry/too crisp, with not much sauce.

Their pizza is absolutely still one of the best that you can get in Rhode Island. However, you have to eat it hot out of the oven, or reheated from the oven. Do not, under any circumstances, microwave their pizza. It ruins it. I have to get pizza from Caserta at least once a month because I crave it.

Doesn't get any better: I remember Caserta's Pizza on Federal Hill when I was in high school back in the early 80's. I've since left RI, but the memory is always there as well as a piece of Nostalgia that everyone from that area can realate to. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to taste some of the best that Providence has to order. It doesn't get anymore itealian than that.

My all time favorite pizza: consistently good food; casual and comfortable; a tradition that I have frequented since the 50s, when it was half the size it is now. Lots of Federal Hill atmosphere.

RI favorite: Pizza is very saucy, so if that's not what you like then don't bother. But I LOVE it...and the wimpy skippy is fabulous. Not much of a variety of toppings either but it doesn't matter, you don't need them. I like mine with just sauce and it's still my favorite just that way.

Rosemary Petteruti: Without a doubt, Caserta's Pizza is the best pizza in RI. I love the sauce, the crispy crust and the overall flavor. I like mine with extra cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives, Yummmm, I think I'll call for a pizza right now!

Great Pizza: Situated right in the heart of Federal Hill, the home of Rhode Island Italian cusine, is this wonderful pizza establishment. If you are a fan of the non-traditional pizza (hawaiian, bbq chicken, etc.) you will be disappointed by the short list of toppings. There is no table service. You order at the counter and pick up your pizza and drinks when your number is called. Pizzas are in 3 sizes : Small 6 slice circular, Medium 12 slice rectangular. and the Large is 2 mediums! And all I can say about the sauce is it's the best you'll probably ever taste.

Peters Perplexed Pizzeria!: Outstanding achievment and excellence in mastering the arts of Pizza Making. The superb tasteful Pizzas created by the extremely friendly staff makes you float in heaven. Unbelievably delicious and exquisitely tasteful. The kind and friendly staff are always willing to listen to your comments, wether they are good or improvements or maybe even negative. Obviously, this is Peter Manfredo Jr favourite Pizzeria because of the politeness and the quality of the food. This portrays, clearly, that this Pizzeria well and truly deserves the 5star treatment and praise.

THE BEST PIZZA AROUND THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR YEARS

This is hands down the best pizza I've ever tasted. I've lived in NYC, Los Angeles, and Boston, and I have yet to find anywhere else that comes close. Crispy crust, chewy middle, fresh quality ingredients, the fflavor of the sauce is amazing. I still drive an hour from MA to pick up this pizza. I only wish they would franchise out into other locations so I didn't have to drive so far for it. Have to admit that atmosphere and service aren't anything to brag about. I usually get it to go.

If you like Domino's pizza, you may hate Caserta's. However, if you appreciate great sauce and authentic ingredients, this one is for you. Don't even compare it to what you think you know about pizza, just enjoy! This is the only pizza I enjoy 'plain', which for them means without cheese, by the way. Also highly recommended are their Wimpy Skippy's: spinach, olives and pepperoni wrapped in a wonderful crust. A bit greasy, so be sure to get lots of napkins, but well worth the calories.

I have no idea why people like this pizza, I just moved to Providence and all people recommended it, so...I went and tried it..ohh boy!! what a desapointment it was. Very few toppings and the sauce was nothing special.

You either love it or think it's overrated: It's not bad but it is not the best by far. It has a cult following that feels compelled to let you know it is "awesome" when it is just plain. I would rather go to Angelo's any day. Better food, service and ambiance for the money.

Live in Providence, am Italian and have eaten there several times. Not the best, but not the worst, but their prices are not that great. Try Tommy's on Chalkstone instead. Great pizza, good portions for a good price.

always amazing, best traditional pizza around: i love casertas, i've been going there for the last 20 years and it's always a really treat. while it's not cheap, i think it's definitely worth the money. this pizza has very high quality ingredients, an awesome crust, and is moist and juicy. my fave. toppings are olive and mushroom, you can only get tradtional italian toppings, no pineapple or other eclectic.

Best Pie Ever: I was there once in 2004 while visiting Providence College- delicious pizza. Then on January 5, 2007 I went there again while going to visit PC, and yet again the best pizza. I've had NYC pizzas, New Haven pizzas, they are good but Casertas stands out. I can't wait for my next trip to Providence.

What a place!: We first started enjoying pizza and other delicious offerings for over 30 years. As a military person who travelled extensively and was away from Rhode Island for years at a time, it was always a treat upon returning to enjoy a Caserta's pizza, pig or Wimpy Skippy. I only wish they offered Italian sausage along with the pepperoni. Their poster of pizzas on the wall remind me of the many visits I had to Naples, the birthplace of pizza. Consistently good, I heartily reccommend it to all visitors.

This place has been around for a long time. It might not be the best now, but still one of the best. I remember this place before it was sold some years ago. It was when it was remodeled that new owners took over and made some changes. The sauce is not the same. The old sauce had a unique flavor that was just awesome. I think it could have been wine. It is still a good pie, but the old way was MUCH better. Still worth a trip though.

Best Pizza in town!: Caserta's has, by far, the best pizza and wimpy skippy's (spinach pies) around! I don't know what they do to the wimpy's but I will go out of my way just to get one. YUMMY!

Greasy Pizza: The pizza is oily -- the crust leaves your fingers coated in a thin layer of grease add the oils from the bottom-rate "mozerella" covering the pies and I guarantee hours of gastric discomfort. Unimaginative and unispired, we found this food disgusting. I would compare it to Domino's or Pizza Hut in terms of quality.

What I miss the most about RI!: I don't belive that Caserta's, located in Federal Hill (Where I grew up and is the Little Italy of RI) was not listed in the Top Ten coast to coast!! 30th is an insult to this great establishment! Since I moved south, I realize that Caserta's(Outside of family) is what I miss the most in RI!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitley better than chain pizza: Caserta's is better than chain pizza; I'll give it that. Not too thin and not too thick and they don't skimp on the toppings. It's loaded. Decently priced too. I'm not crazy about the crust. It's like greasy, fried dough with a crispy bottom and soft in the middle. I like crust with flavor. The pepperoni they use also doesn't have a real pepperoni taste to it. It's kind of blah. The cheese and sauce however are great and so are some of the other toppings.

A rhode island staple...: I've been going to Caserta's for 30 years and it's been the same pizza for 30 years, excellent. You always want to feel like your getting good food and once you have their pizza, you will never forget it. I love the Pigs in a Blanket and Wimpy Skippy, when I'm not in the mood for pizza, which is not that often. The pizza is a different style than you will find at most pizza parlors and that is one of the treats. Has a good crust, the sauce is out of this world and the service is very good. They must be doing something right, there are many employees there that have been there for as long as I can remember. If you really want a treat, stop here and then walk down the street to the little coffee and pastry shoppe Pastiche. Another top notch place to go when you just want to get out of the house, Waterfire, or just to have a nice treat to top off an evening.

I don't know what that guy is saying about the pizza being different.Over 20 years ago my wife and I used to hang out at Caserta while dating. The had a franchise going and we used to visit to the one in Narragansett called 'Serta by the Sea. There was another one in Warwick too near Sandy Bottom Lane. They only franchised the name for a few years and then those places changed their names.Last year we just decided out of the blue to go to the original location in Providence. We were amazed and pleased that it was exactly the same as it was 25 years ago. Our 21 year old son wasn't around then and he agrees with us on this Caserta has the best pizza in Rhode Island.

Well I have to say that this is the best pizza experience in my life. It's better than papa johns and all of that and is a true brick oven italian taste with crispy crust and an italian dough with a slightly acidic sauce and a nicely balenced mild cheese blend and this is much better than american stuff.

It will be hard for me to pass this place up to try amonther restaurant in Providence. I would drive cross town for this pizza. I wish they would deliver to Connecticut.
