Carbonara Pizza Recipe

This recipe was created by guide, Linda Larsen, and is a cool variation on an old classic. A dollop of creamy white sauce and some bacon and cheese is placed on top of the pizza crust and baked until bubbly, brown and positively yummy.

This pizza will feed four hungry people and takes a total of 42 minutes to make from start to finish.

1 tube refrigerated pizza crust OR 1 Boboli pre-made pizza crust

8 slices bacon

2 tablespoons butter

1 onion, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 cup bottled Alfredo sauce

1 egg yolk

1 cup shredded Muenster cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. If using refrigerated pizza dough, press into a 12" pizza pan, making the edges 1/2" high. Prick with a fork and bake for 6-8 minutes until set and just starting to brown. Set aside.

2. In large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Drain on paper towels, crumble, and set aside. Pour out bacon fat from pan; do not wipe out. Add butter to skillet; cook onion and garlic until tender, about 3-5 minutes.

3. Add Alfredo sauce and egg yolk to onion mixture; cook and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and add Muenster and Mozzarella cheeses; stir until melted.

4. Spoon sauce over pizza crust, spreading evenly. Top with bacon and Parmesan cheese.

5. Bake for 9-14 minutes until crust is crisp and cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Cut into wedges to serve.
