Fried calamari is a popular appetizer choice at many bars, and for good reason. It's incredibly tasty, and goes great with a number of dipping sauces. What about marinara sauce? And what if you decided to take that calamari and put it on top of a pizza? Why, you'd have a fried calamari pizza, and it's delicious.
To make a fried calamari pizza, you will need the following ingredients:
-1 large pizza crust
-4-6 ounces of fresh calamari
-3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
-1 cup of marinara sauce
To start, run the calamari under water to make sure it's clean. Coat the calamari with flour, ten fry in olive oil until crispy and golden brown. Remove and set on a paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
Next, take the pizza crust and apply the marinara sauce and shredded cheese, followed by the fried calamari. Place the pizza in an oven pre-heated to 375 degrees and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Remove, and enjoy!
It's as simple as that! You can use any base you prefer, such as cocktail sauce or alfredo sauce, and can use any type of cheese to suit your tastes.
