One of the best parts about going to a fair or carnival is the food. You have countless options, but most tend to gravitate toward the more...unhealthy options, such as the fried dough. Colloquially known as "elephant ears," fried is literally just that - dough that is deep fried, then typically topped with powdered sugar. Some tend to go all out and load it with hot fudge and a variety of other toppings as well. But what about pizza toppings? Yes, fried dough pizza is a thing, and it's delicious.

1 cup flour1 teaspoon baking powder1 tablespoon sugar1/4 teaspoon salt1 tablespoon shortening1/3 cup milkTo make the dough, mix all of the dry ingredients together. Next, blend in the shortening, then add the milk, stirring with a fork until soft dough is formed. On a surface coated in flour, knead the dough, roll it out, then cut into small squares.
In a pan coated in oil, deep fry each pizza for a few minutes on each side, or until it's nice and crispy. Remove and let drain on some paper towels.
For the toppings, you will need the following ingredients:
-1/2 cup marinara sauce
-1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
-Toppings of your choice.
Once the dough has cooled down, apply the marinara sauce, the cheese, and the toppings you have chosen. Place in the oven at about 375 degrees and bake until the cheese is. Remove, and enjoy!
