Pepperoni Pizza Crescent Roll Tree

Making it interesting for the Christmas Season, here's a pizza recipe that would entice many happy auras in the party. A pepperoni Pizza Crescent Roll Tree from Culinary Hill is a good looking pepperoni slice that also becomes a great edible decoration.

Ingredients:
1 pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls
1 tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. dried Italian seasoning
1 (15 oz.) can Contadina® pizza sauce
¼ c. chopped pepperoni
½ c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1small yellow bell pepper
¼ c. chopped plum tomatoes
2 T. sliced scallions

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles. Press the perforated seams between the triangles together.
  3. Divide garlic powder and Italian seasoning among rectangles, using about ¼ tsp. garlic powder and 1/8 tsp. Italian seasoning on each.
  4. Starting with the short end, roll each rectangle up and cut in half and each half into thirds. You should have a total of 24 slices.
  5. Arrange the slices on the baking sheet in the following tree pattern: 1 slice for the top, 2 slices in the 2nd row, 3 slices in the third row, 4 slices in the 4th row, 5 slices in the 5th row, and 6 slices in the 6th row. The remaining 3 slices should be arranged under Row 6 as the tree trunk.
  6. Bake 15 minutes, until the trees have set and are starting to turn golden brown, but are not fully cooked. Remove from oven and spread an even layer (¼ c. to ½ c.) of Contadina® pizza sauce on top. Leave ½” around the edges of the tree and the trunk uncovered.
  7. Sprinkle the pepperoni evenly over the Contadina® pizza sauce and top with shredded cheese. Return to the oven and bake 5 minutes longer, until the cheese has melted and the crescent dough is fully cooked.
  8. Meanwhile, cut a triangle about 2” in size out of the bell pepper using a sharp knife or a cookie cutter. Cut small squares or diamonds about ¼” in size out of the remaining bell pepper as desired. Heat remaining Contadina® pizza sauce in a small saucepan or the microwave, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
  9. Remove crescent roll tree from oven. Place the bell pepper start at the top of the tree. Arrange the chopped tomatoes, sliced scallions, and remaining bell pepper pieces in a decorative pattern.
  10. Transfer to a platter and serve, providing additional Contadina® pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
