Pizza Bolognese with Homemade Pizza Dough

Who says Bolognese was only about spaghetti? It's also about pizza and Food Equals Happy Me shows us how to make one. Though it only makes 4 small solo serving pizzas, this is still a pie that would satisfy your hunger. 

Pizza Dough

Ingredients:
- 7g (1 packet) dried yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 400g OO flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp olive oil

Directions:
  1. To make the pizza dough, mix together the yeast, sugar and warm water and set aside for 10mins or until frothy on top. In a bowl mix together the flour and salt. Add the olive oil and the yeast mixture and mix until it comes together into a dough. Turn the mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and knead the dough for 10mins or until smooth. The trick to kneading is to use your palm, pressing down from the middle and pushing outwards, you then fold that piece back over onto the ball of dough, give it a quarter circle turn and repeat.
  2. Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover with cling film and leave in a warm place for 45mins-1hr or until doubled in size. Knock back the dough by kneading lightly for 1min. Divide the mixture into the amount of bases you are making (either 4 small or 3 medium) and then using your palm and fingertips press the dough out into a circle to make the pizza bases. If you prefer you can roll it out using a rolling pin, if its sticky pop the cling wrap over the top of the dough before rolling.


Bolognese Pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 small pizza base
- 2-3 tbsp tomato passata
- Olive oil
- 1/4 cup bolognese
- Grated tasty cheese
- Mozzarella

Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to as hot as it can go, 230-250 degrees celcius. Place your prepared pizza base on a baking tray. Spoon on the passata and spread over the base leaving a 2cm edge around the outside. Sprinkle over a small amount of grated tasty cheese. Add the bolognese in dollops around the base, and then add torn pieces of mozzarella over the top (don’t go overboard with the cheese, I know its tempting!). Drizzle with a little olive oil and cook for 10-15mins in preheated oven or until base is golden and the top is bubbling.
