Pizza Pretzels Recipe

Created by Brenda Hulin for, these pretzels make great afternoon snacks for kids returning from school. You can also freeze them easily and take them out whenever you need them.


This easy recipe will make 4 pizza pretzels.

1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Red pepper flakes to taste

4 slices provolone cheese

4 slices mozzarella cheese


1. Allow bread dough to rise until doubled in size. Punch down and divide into four pieces. Roll each piece into a 20-inch rope.

 2. Line two baking sheets with nonstick foil. Coil dough ropes into four pretzels, two on each sheet. Let dough rise for about an hour.

3. Gently spoon pizza sauce over the pretzels and sprinkle each with oregano and, if desired, red pepper flakes.

4. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes or until pretzels are golden.

5. Immediately top each pretzel with a slice of provolone and a slice of mozzarella. Let stand until cheese melts over pretzels. Serve.
