Salami and Mozzarella Calzones

Other than the usual pepperoni, salami could be an option and Love Grows Wild features a pie recipe that would come handy if you've got salami and mozzarella. In a calzone form, try this pizza recipe:

2 - 13.8 ounce packages refrigerated pizza crust dough
1/2 cup marinara, plus more for dipping
12 slices thinly sliced salami
8 ounces fresh Mozzarella, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 egg
2 tablespoons water

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Open one package of pizza crust and lay the dough out on a baking sheet. Place a 7-8" round salad plate on one half of the pizza crust and cut around the edge of the plate with a sharp knife. Then repeat on the other half of the crust. You may need to stretch the dough a bit to cut both circles. Create an egg wash by cracking the egg into a small bowl and mixing in 2 tablespoons of water. Brush the egg wash around the edges of both dough circles. Spread 2 tablespoons of marinara on the bottom half of each dough, leaving a 1 inch border around the edge. Top the marinara with 3 salami slices and 2 mozzarella slices on each crust. Gently fold the top half of the dough over and pinch to seal. Brush the tops of the calzones with egg wash. Sprinkle with half the salt and oregano. Repeat with second pizza dough and bake calzones until golden brown, about 18-20 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before serving with marinara for dipping.
