Spinoccoli Pizza Recipe

The beauty behind a white pizza is that it lends itself to a number of interesting flavors and toppings. The often overpowering flavor of marinara sauce is absent, with the toppings serving as the driving flavor on the pizza. One such pizza is the Spinoccoli pizza, a unique white pizza concoction that uses broccoli and spinach as its primary toppings, along with some added spices for a truly flavorful pizza.

Recipes for the Spinoccoli pizza abound on the Internet, and as such there is no right way to do it. So long as you have the two principle toppings, you’re on the right track to make a great pizza. Some might say that the only toppings you should use are in the pizza’s namesake, but that would seriously hinder the interesting combinations of cheese and other assorted toppings to help make the flavors truly pop.

To make the Spinoccoli pizza, you will need the following ingredients:

-1 pizza crust, pre-made or homemade
-Olive oil for brushing
-1/2 cup baby spinach
-2 cloves of garlic, chopped
-1 cup broccoli florets
-Mozzarella/Romano cheese, shredded
-1/2 cup feta cheese crumbles

To start, take the crust and lightly brush with olive oil to the edges. Cover the crust with the mozzarella and romano cheeses using as much as you would like. Ideally, you would only use enough to cover the crust, but it’s your pizza, so feel free to add as much cheese as you so desire.

On top of the cheese, add torn-by-hand spinach leaves and the broccoli florets, followed by the feta cheese and garlic. Once these have been evenly distributed, sprinkle a little bit of shredded cheese to lightly cover the toppings.

Place the pizza in an oven pre-heated to 400 degrees and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Remove, let cool, and enjoy!
