A recipe you can do as an alternative dish for your typical pizza dough, the Zeppole from Made in our Kitchen. As described by the author of this recipe, this dish is comforting, sweet and can easily be accomplished in minutes.
Pizza dough
Vegetable oil (for deep-frying)
Confectioners’ sugar
  1. Pour oil into a large frying pan, you’ll need about 2 inches. Heat oil and bring to a temperature between 350°F and 360°F.
  2. Cut dough into 1-inch pieces and roll into balls. Fry zeppole in the hot oil for about 2 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.  Using a slotted spoon transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar and serve.
