Best pizza in town: You have to try the pizza here... you don't forget it... cornmeal crust and amazing tomato sauce

San Francisco has ve...: San Francisco has very few decent pizza restaurants, and until Little Star, it had no worthwhile deep-dish pizza restaurants . So it didn't have to be that good. Despite this low bar, the pizza is just luscious. The corn meal crust on their signature Little Star pizza is lovely. I recommend it more than my former favorite, Zachary's, over in the East Bay.

Best dukebox in a restaurant: The have the best tunes on their dukebox. Their deepdish self-titled pizza is fantastic. The clientele are hip, good-looking, normal folk from the area. There is normally an hour-long wait for a table (no reservations, just name on a list), but who cares... Fly is down the block. Go there, go there an hour earlier and have a great time.

Oh so tastey: Being from Chicago, I can tell you, I have not found one pizza place that even comes close to delivering the authentic Chicago style deep dish like Little Star. They rock! If you like pizza, you will LOVE Little Star.

Best True Chicago Style in the Bay Area: If you are a fan of true Chicago style pizza, Little Star is for you. It's even better than Giordano's and Gino's East, as well as Zachery's. IMHO, the best rest. in the Bay Area (at least for pizza lovers). The only negatives are the tragically hip crowd (read: 20 and 30 somethings who still have a high school mentality), but that's tough to get away from in the city. As well as the fact that its tiny and crowded. Both things are tolerable though, because the pizza is so good.

Yum! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it: Usual order is glass of red wine, salad and deep dish pizza. Consistently always good!

Good Pie: I like Little Star's pizza -- it's tasty and creative, and generally excellent. I've had a number of their pies, including the 'white' pizza, which I would highly recommend.

Great Deep Dish Pizzas: We tried both the deep dish and flat pizzas here, the deep dish is the way to go. It has a great crust. The atmosphere is very cool, especially for a pizza place. Salads are good too.

Best pizza EVER: Don't go here unless you are ready to become addicted. My wife and I drive up from San Jose to eat here. Drink some cheap beer while you are waiting and order an extra pizza to reheat later on in the week.

I am a Chicago native and was in San Francisco on vacation, and i did get a chance to go to little star. I must say, that is one of the best pizzas i ever ate. It is much better than ricobenes, much better than Giordanos.

I live one block away from this place, but I just discovered it. I abhor myself for not looking this up earlier. I've been going to Zachary's Pizza near Berkeley when I crave for a deep dish pizza. It's a close call, but I gotta say Little Star tastes better than Zachary's. Cash only. They open at 5pm.

Little Star - Yummy: We stumbled upon this gem of a pizza shack au moderne a few months ago. Everyone else has as well telling by the full waiting area each time we've been back. Our friends tipped us off that takeout was the way to go and boy were they right. You get your pizza to the minute that they quoted you over the phone - and your choice of deep dish or thin crust. Best in SF.

Great pizza, way too loud: Definitely the best pizza in the neighborhood. When it first opened we ate there all the time, but now it's so crowded and loud that we've stopped going. The curse of popularity, I guess.

Crabby Star is what my 5 year old and I call it. "specialties: children" Ha. The only thing they specialize in is frowns and surly hipster-doofuses who are too busy to tend to a table properly. Pizza is fine, but with that service I'll go to Arinell's Pizza one block up.

Actually, a pizza from Fisherman's Pizza is better. It is located a couple of blocks from the bay in the Wharf, so you will have to avoid tourists...but it is good pizza.

Hip, Great value, and Delicious!: I'd hate to spread the words about this place because it is always crowded. But their deepdish crust and tomato sauce are far best I ever tasted!

Yummmm: Once you try LS pizza, you don't forget it. Pizza is not the same again. Corn meal crust, deep dish, cool atmosphere. The only downside is the wait, both for seating and for food. But it's well worth it.

I am sure the pizza is wonderful.... Like more than a few places this place is hostile towards kids and families. Specifically we went in and quickly got the vibe we were not welcome. Ok, so I got the pizza to go thinking this might resolve the situation... after countless stink eye from the staff, and my kids are well behaved, and being totally ignored I got the message and left without the pizza. Go across the street to Lilly's formerly Brother's barbecue. The food is ok (not great but ok) but the owner and staff has love and compassion for kids and will treat you with respect and not like a criminal because instead of an expensive dog you had teh nerve to have children!

BIG Star Pizza: Our new favorite pizza joint. Great, semi-trendy atmosphere, nice wine list, and delicious, Chicago-style pizza. You have to eat the crust - the original cornmeal-style is one of the best parts of the dining experience. Awesome juke box too.

Being a fan of deep dish pizza, I must say that Little Star is the best "Chicago style" pizza I have had in San Francisco. A close 2nd is Zachery's in Oakland, but who wants to make the trip to Oakland.

For me this pizza is heart happy and kind of healthy comfort food. After a long day it's like coming home to a heaping helping of mama's spaghetti. It's really not pizza and certainly not pizza in more... [1 review]

This pizza could be a lot better if they concentrated on making the crust stay firm during baking. The crust gets a little soggy and doesn't hold up well.

so yums. i was converted by an obsessed fan of this place and then i cam back with another friend who is also now obsessed. it's delicious. lots of yummy cocktails too i had some weird champagne cocktail with black cherry that was extremely strong just how i like. the only drawback is the cash only thing - i mean awful! - but they do have an ATM on premise that only charges 0.50 for use (yay no $3 service fee) but it's still annoying. i mean get a credit card swiper little star!!

I have eaten at his place about fifty times it's always great food. The wait is long but if you phone in an order you can just pick it up. Credit cards are now accepted.
