Ferraris remains my all time favorite Italian restaurant in Sarasota. But then again, I'm biased coming from New York. The owners of this great place are from New York, too, and appreciate people with high standards for Italian cuisine. Vincenza (the owner) is a pisser (she should have been cast in The Sopranos) and her chef-son, Marcello, is a master in the kitchen. Stop by their new location at The Landings Shopping Center, on 41 South. Really nice atmosphere and great staff. Come with a hearty appetite. Their portions are HUGE (no really, HUGE).

What a Find!: Tucked in a strip mall and looking like a pizza place we were very plaeased to find a cozy dining environment. White table cloths and hard wood chairs. The owner/hostess greeted us and checked on us throughout the meal. The server seemed genuinely pleased to be there and was always attentive to our needs. The lobster and shrimp ravioli tsted home made and came with a very light pink tomatoe/shellfish sauce. The veal scallops in chopped tomatoes and mozarella was fork tender. Something that is so unusual I am always surprised.. If nothing else, I will go back for the veal. The mussels appetizer came with plump not sandy mussels taht were perfectly cooked in a garlic wine sauce. The house salads were fresh and crisp. Wine and beer are available by the glass or bottle. The name is misleading because we didn't see pizza on the menu or at any other table. Judging by the number of people there on a week night, this is very popular. They do take reservations.

Ferrari's has wonderful Italian food. The owner is usually there to greet you and make sure everything is perfect. Small space so reservations are good to have
